- POST REPORT, Kathmandu

Sep 9, 2014-

The Carter Center has handed over its Nepal Observation Research Database to Social Science Baha, a Kathmandu-based non-profit organisation which carries out various studies and research of social science.

The digital database contains observer reporting on trends in the peace and constitutional processes, voter registration and electoral issues, data on regional dynamics across Nepal and case studies from June 2009 to September 2013.

The Center issued 28 reports over the span of four years, all based on research conducted in all of Nepal’s 75 districts.

“The database contains a snapshot of Nepal’s democratic transition, and chance for multiple analysis,” said Connie Moon Sehat, associate director of the Carter Center’s Director of Democracy Programme during the handover ceremony on Monday. She said the raw database, which contains detailed answers to particular issues such as

federalism, social inclusion, voter registration, allows researchers to delve into

various themes and develop quantitative parameters.
