Pandey in Dhaka to invite B’desh PM

Foreign Affairs Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey reached Dhaka on Sunday afternoon to extend an invitation on the behalf of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, to participate in the 18th Saarc Summit in Kathmandu on November 26-27.

Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali hosted a dinner reception on Sunday in honour of Pandey, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Pandey is scheduled to hand over the invitation to the Bangladeshi prime minister on Monday afternoon. He will also meet his Bangladeshi counterpart the same day to invite him for the Saarc Council of Ministers meeting in Kathmandu on 25 November. Pandey was received by Nepali Ambassador to Bangladesh and high officials of the Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry at the Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka.

As per his itenary, Pandey is leaving Bangladesh for Bhutan on Tuesday to extend an invitation from Prime Minister Koirala to the Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Togbay to attend the Saarc Summit. He is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Wednesday. After visiting the two South Asian countries, Pandey will be heading to India, Afghanistan and Pakistan to extend invitations to the respective head of the states/governments to participate in the summit.
