Police file murder case against driver

Police on Sunday filed a murder case against the driver of a bus that met with an accident at Babarmahal in the Capital on October 13 killing three people.

The Metropolitan Police Circle in Singha Durbar filed the case at the Kathmandu District Court against bus driver Chandra Bahadur Tamang. Police investigation had showed that Tamang was driving under the influence of alcohol while the accident took place. Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Khadka, chief of the police circle, said the hearing on the case has begun and is likely to end on Monday.

Four motorcycles were crushed under the bus, killing three people who were thrown in the middle of the road opposite the Kathmandu District Court. The bus apparently skidded to the left after hitting a road island on its right on one of the busiest roads in the Valley.

Makdul Miya Thakurayan of Bara and Tilak Prasad Gautam and Rudra Prasad Gautam of Mahottari were killed in the accident.
