Dhondup claims title

Wangchen Dhondup won the Indian Abassador’s Cup Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Forest Resort on Saturday.

In the gross category, Dhondhup defeated Gopal Chitrakar and Ang Tshiring Sherpa with a score of two-over 74. Chitrakar, who played with a six-handicap, got hold of the nett title with 39 stableford points. Sherpa, playing with a five-handicap finished second on  38 points.

Prem Sachdev won the best front nine  with 22 points and Major Nischaya Rayamjhi claimed the best back nine trophy with 21 points. Els Sapandonk won the ladies trophy with 17 gross points ahead of Rekha Ghimire who took the nett title with 27 points. Aditi Ghimire was the best among the juniors. Ang Tshiring Sherpa won the most birdies award with four.

Colonel Bikash Shah won most pars award with 10 pars.  Major Ajay Dhyani got the closest to the pin award with Rene Vijay Einhaus hitting the longest drive and Pravin Shumsher Rana taking the straightest drive (closest to the line). Sumati Rao won the ladies putting competition.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjith Rae among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
