May 18, 2015-
The Australian chapter of the Non-resident Nepali Association distributed relief materials to 1,000 households in Katekuti village, Dolakha, on Monday.
The relief distribution programme was conducted according to the advice of the Natural Disaster Relief Committee of the district. President of NRNA, Sesh Ghale, had travelled over to the area on a helicopter after the May 12 earthquake to see the devastation first-hand.
During the relief programme, Ghale revealed the association’s plans to construct 1,000 houses in the area.
According to NRNA member Chetra Kumar Shrestha, the association had previously distributed relief materials to Magpauwa (330 families), Makaibari (64 families) and Boch (35 families) villages in the district. “After the May 12 quake brought about additional destruction in the area, we have decided to prioritise this place,” he added.
