Mahato threatens to blockade Capital
Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato has threatened to blockade Kathmandu if the demands raised by the Madhesi were not addressed in the final draft of constitution.Ekantipur Report
“We will wait until a final draft of constitution is prepared,” said Mahato, while speaking in an interaction in Kathmandu on Sunday, adding, “If our demands are not addressed in it, we will quit the Constituent Assembly and lay siege to Kathmandu.”
He claimed if their demands were not met, Nepal will witness the biggest Madhes uprising in its history.
Other Madhes-centric parties too have expressed their solidarity with the plan to quit the CA, Mahato mentioned. He claimed that powerful nations, including India, will support their cause as they are clear that constitution should be drafted as per the past agreements.
Commenting on the Madhesi leaders’ visit to Indian Embassy, Mahato said, “If Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chair KP Oli and UCPN (Maoist) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal can visit Indian Embassy and Delhi, why can’t we go to the Indian Embassy?”
