KMC chief Rudra Singh Lama says public participation was comparatively less this week due to fuel crisis

Oct 11, 2015-Participants of the 126th weekly Clean Bagmati Campaign collected five metric tonnes of garbage from the Bagmati river in Balkhu and surrounding areas on Saturday.

Various government officials, including Additional Inspector General of Police Bigyan Raj Sharma, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Executive Rudra Singh Tamang, Federal Affairs and Local Development Ministry Secretary Madhav Prasad Regmi and former Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal, participated in the programme. “We have been mobilising our teams for the campaign and will continue it,” KMC chief Tamang said. He, however, said the public participation was comparatively less this time due to fuel crisis.

Over 200 people, including officials from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, joined the clean-up drive. Vehicles belonging to Nepal Police, KMC and some participants ferried the volunteers to their houses after the sanitation campaign.

The campaign was initiated on May 18, 2013.
