Talking to media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport before his departure, Koirala said the adversity seen in the country after the promulgation of the new constitution should be addressed through talks and discussions.
The ongoing Tarai/Madhes agitation has inflicted the country and the government is expected to be serious to resolve the problem, the former prime minister said, adding that genuine demands of the Madhes-centric parties could be addressed through constitutional amendments and that the NC was ready to cooperate with the government towards that end.
He underlined the need for reactivating the National Reconstruction Authority formed to carry out post- earthquake reconstruction efforts.
The NC President will undergo his regular medical check-up at the US-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Though suggested for visiting the Center every four months, his visit was delayed by some nine months due to the country’s political situation.
