UML leader Nepal tells Indian govt to ‘correct its behaviour’
CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the Indian government can stop the growing anti-Indian sentiments in Nepal only by lifting the blockade on Nepal-India border.CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the Indian government can stop the growing anti-Indian sentiments in Nepal only by lifting the blockade on Nepal-India border.
Addressing a press meet in Banke on Sunday, the former prime minister said neither the government of Nepal nor UML want to foster anti-Indian sentiments.
“Rather than blaming others, we wish that India correct its behaviour and mistake by lifting the unofficial blockade,” he said.
On the protest being waged in the Tarai by Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha, the UML leader claimed the new constitution does not discriminate any community.
“The Morcha’s demand for a single Tarai single is impossible,” he said. Nepal said the solution to current problems will only come through talks and not by staging sit-in protests at border points.
DPM Thapa denounces blockade
HETAUDA: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa has said that Nepali people are facing hardships due to the border blockade imposed by India.
“Why is there a blockade and obstruction on supply of essentials? Nepal has not done anything against India or its security by promulgating a constitution,” said Thapa, denouncing the blockade while addressing a function in his home district Makwanpur on Sunday.
“The obstruction on supply of essentials by India under the pretext of Madhes agitation have raised questions on the centuries-old social, cultural and economic ties between Nepal and India,” he said, adding that Nepal will never forget the sufferings caused by the blockade.
Thapa also defended the new constitution as one of the most inclusive and participatory charters ever drafted by a country.
