Revitalising the Pokhareli theatre scene
Youth Creation Theatre, in association with the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, organised a workshop—titled Stage Craft Workshop—on Friday.In an attempt to revitalise the theatre scene in Pokhara, a group of young theatre enthusiasts, Youth Creation Theatre, in association with the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, organised a workshop—titled Stage Craft Workshop—on Friday.
According to the chairman of the Theatre, Kapil Sharma, the group is gearing up to build its own theatre hall.
The event was attended by Sharubhakta, Prachanda Malla, Ramesh Ranjan, and Pushkar Bahadur Gurung, among others.
“We would (back in the ‘30s) put together dramas and would stage them at the annual National Drama Festival that would take place in the Capital,” recalled Sharubhakta, the incumbent Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama. “It’s about time the youth today revive the theatre scene,” he added.
Speaking during the programme, eminent director-actor Prachanda Malla focused on the need to improvise theatre according technological advancements.
“The new theatre hall should boast the modern lighting and decoration systems, so that it can attract younger audience,” said Malla.
