It might sound counter-intuitive to install apps that limit your phone usage, but if you’re really planning to get on with the digital detox plan, you might very well want to download these nifty programs. Because, let’s face it, your self-imposition can only help you so much.

There is only one thing this app does and that is count exactly how many times you have unlocked your phone. But you might be surprised at the result, which Checky gives you with a notification at 12 noon every day, should you choose to enable it.

- App is pretty basic and doesn’t need any fidgeting.

- The results will make you more conscious about your habit of frequently checking your phone and help tone it down.

The Big Red Stop

All that this app needs is your social media integration and a tap on the enable button. It immediately cuts you off from all the social networking sites and informs your buddies about your intention of taking a break from the digital world.

What we like

- Facebook and Twitter integration.

- Automated message when the app is working.

Platform: iOS and Android

Break free from your smartphone addiction and cutback on your daily social media abuse with this app. It does little more than Checky by monitoring your smartphone usage on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, and gives you the addiction score along with tools to manage your phone.

What we like

- Daily, weekly and monthly phone usage statistics with an addiction score.

- Features simple interface, configurable options in settings and 24-hour usage tracking.

- Has parental control and other tools to disable

Internet, send auto texts when calls are rejected

by it, and provide a usage map based on locations where you use your phone the most.
