Gulmi CDO is this year’s Integrity Idol

Accountability Lab, established with the purpose of promoting accountability and transparency, felicitated Kanel for his contribution to community development, including reduction of littering, citizen’s rights, literacy and tackling corruption.
Kanel is actively involved in the life of his community and district and has led many social campaigns.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Chitra Bahadur KC awarded Kanel with a certificate and a trophy amid a function.
Kanel was picked among four other finalists selected From thousands of civil servants in the country.
“Kanel fulfilled his responsibility honestly and tried to make changes in delivering service to service seekers,” said Narayan Adhikari, South Asia representative for Accountability Lab.
He added that Kanel performed his tasks with a strong commitment to community development,
Kanel has led campaigns such as Touch to Find, Teach One each one, Sound Citizen Charter etc.
“A lack of integrity remains at the heart of Nepal’s challenges and citizens often feel like they are helpless
to do anything about it. But through Integrity Idol they are engaging in a positive discussion about these issues and the people that can bring about change. It’s also about naming and honouring to good doers rather then positing them behind the bars,” Adhikari said.
Resource Person Ram Narayan Shah, Assistant Manager Officer Ramesh Kumar Thapa, School Principal Deepak Shrestha, Women Development Inspector Bhuwan Kumari Rai and CDO Kanel were this year’s finalists for Integrity Idol.
A three-member selection committee comprising former Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Transparency International-Nepal President Bharat Bahadur Thapa and former Minister Ganesh Shah had picked Kanel as the winner.
