Kavre
The Kavre District Court has issued an order to reopen the case of Maina Sunar, who was killed in detention at Nepal Army barracks in 2004. The case had been adjourned at the district court for two years.
According to court Registrar Hiranya Bhandari, the case will be heard even if the defendants are absent.
The court had issued an arrest warrant against four NA officials—Bobi Khatri, Sunil Prasad Adhikari, Amit Pun, and Niranjan Basnet, on charge of illegal detention, torture, and killing of Sunar. Her body was exhumed from Panchkhaal Barracks in 2007. The NA, however, claims the four had already been tried in a military court.
