This year, eight pairs of bulls clashed in Betrawati. Speaking at the gathering, Suroj Lawati, chairperson of the Gosainkunda Youth Club, said they have been organising the event to preserve their centuries-old culture. “The festival is believed to have been initiated to celebrate the treaty reached between Nepal and Tibet following a war two centuries ago,” he said.
Locals said bullfighting event is helpful in promoting tourism in the region as it draws people from various districts such as Chitwan, Dhading, Kathmandu and Lalitpur.
Besides bullfight, organisers also held cock fighting and various cultural shows to entertain the visitors.
