US Deputy Secretary of State Antony J Blinken called Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday and discussed political crisis in Nepal.
“The Deputy Secretary urged PM Oli to represent the interests of all Nepalis and take concrete steps to resolve the political impasse, emphasising the importance of all sides working towards a compromise and not taking unilateral steps,” the Embassy of the United States said in a statement.
Blinken also called for restraint in responding to protests.
Three protesters had died on Thursday in Rangeli of Morang district when police responded to clashes between Madhesi parties and CPN-UML cadres.
