In the semi-final matches, Kohalpur stunned a strong-looking Taratal Cricket Club by four wickets and Royal overcame Baluwatar Cricket Club of Kathmandu by eight wickets. The final is scheduled for Saturday.
Taratal boasted national team members Naresh Budhayer, Binod Bhandari and Bikram Sob in their squad but they were restricted to 116-8 in 20 overs. Kohalpur reached 117-6 in reply with seven balls to spare. From 86-6, Asif Hossain played a match-winning knock of 35 unbeaten runs from 25 balls, hitting three sixes and a four.
Mayank Yadav (22), Vinakar Giri (17) and Prashant Singh (17) were other batsmen to make runs in double figures. Hari Krishna Jha took three wickets for Taratal with Sob picking up 2-21 from 3.5 overs.
Earlier, Taratal were reduced to 58-6 in 11.3 overs before Sob lifted them with a scintillating 85 off 64 with nine fours and four sixes. Rajan Shrestha (3-23) and Dipendra Yadav (2-17) shared five wickets for Kohalpur.
Later in the day, Baluwatar could only manage 99-8 before Royal replied with 100-2 in just 12.3 overs. The match was virtually over for Baluwatar after Subhendu Pandey and Aafaq Sheikh (27) shared 87 runs for the first wicket in 11.2 overs.
Subhendu made an unbeaten 57 off 45 with five fours and three sixes. Rabin Joshi was the only Baluwatar batsman to play freely making 43 off 47 with five hits to the fence. Rizwan Ansari took two wickets for Royal.
