An octogenarian woman has donated Rs10 million to Jomsom-based Janahit Multiple Campus. Eighty-two-year-old Nirala Kumari Tulachan donated Rs 10,111,111 to the campus at a function in Pokhara on Sunday. Tulachan’s son Mrigendra and daughter-in-law Mangala also took part in the cheque handover ceremony. The cheque was received by Min Prasad Thakali, chairman of the campus management committee, in Pokhara on Sunday.

Tulachan did not learn to read and write as there were no schools around while she grew up in Mustang.She decided to donate the money to the campus hoping that young people could get educated.

Campus chief Ramchandra Adhikari said the donated amount will be used for the educational development. The campus, which was established two years ago, is attended by 108 students.
