Electing to bat first, Royal Sports put on a respectable 135-7 on the board before dismissing Kohalpur for 109 runs in 18.2 overs thanks to the national team spinner Basanta Regmi, who took four wickets. Royal Sports had their top four batsmen to thank for posting the total.
Skipper Shubhendhu Pandey scored a fluent 38 runs with three fours and a six, while his opening partner Aafaq Sheikh made a composed 24 runs. Number 4 batsman Bipin Chandra blasted 22-ball 36 with four hits to the fence and Mohit Singh chipped in 10-ball 14. Dipendra Yadav and Asif Hossain claimed two wickets each, while Lal Adhikari and Mayank Yadav took one apiece for Kohalpur.
Kohalpur’s run chase never took off as only skipper Antim Thapa (28) contributed runs of some note. Man-of-the-match Regmi did the maximum damage to Kohalpur, taking 4-14 off four overs. Bipin Chandra also bagged two, while Rizwan Ansari, Priyanshu Anand and Akash Bista grabbing one wicket each for Royal Sports.
The champions received Rs 100,000 and the runners-up took home Rs 50,000. Pandey of Royal Sports, who scored 162 runs with two half centuries in the tournament, was adjudged man-of-the-series.
Bijay Gautam of Baluwatar Cricket Club, who took 10 wickets, won the best bowler award. Shahid Ansari of Holyland Higher Secondary School was declared the best batsman after scoring 105 runs.
