The Parliament Regulation Drafting Committee has not been able to draft regulations due to disputes between the ruling CPN-UML and the main opposition NC.
This is the fourth time the committee has sought for deadline extension after failing to resolve the disputes—mainly over the size of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC).
The NC and some other fringe parties are for continuing with the 73-member PHSC while the UML-led ruling coalition is rooting for reducing its size to make it a 15-member committee as provisioned by the constitution.
