Locals of Chipleti in Hetauda-17 are still without land ownership certificates despite living in the settlement for more than four decades.
Local Tuk Bahadur Moktan, 66, said he has been living in Chipleti from 43 years. “I have made the land fertile through my hard work, but do not have a land ownership certificate,” said Moktan, expressing concern that they have been anxious due to carelessness of the local authorities.
“We have requested the ward office, District Development Office and local political parties to arrange for land ownership certificates, but to no avail,” said 61-year-old Gyan Bahadur Ghalan.
Around 150 Tamang
households have been living in the area of over 200 bighas of land in Chipleti. Social activist Birman Ghalan said the villagers are very
anxious now. “Villagers
had high hopes of receiving land ownership certificates when Chipleti was included into Hetauda Sub metropolis. But they are still without the certificates,” he said.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Hetauda and Churiyamai Ward Office Jaganath
Subedi said that the
distribution of land ownership certificates has not
been started to the Chipleti households.
