A total of 28 teams are expected to participate in the tournament which will be played at the Dalima Holiday Resort in Kurintaar, Chitwan. The tournament will be played in two rounds where 14 teams will compete in the March 18-19 event. The winner of the first event will play the champion of the March 25-26 event in the Super Final.
After the conclusion of the round robin league, four teams will make it to the semi-finals. The Super Sixes event will be played in coloured dress and balls with each team required to include one female player and five male.
Tournament Director and Kanchanjunga International Founder CEO Subash Pradhan, a national cricketer who represented Nepal in various age-group international tournaments, said the major objective of the tournament was to get corporate houses involved in the game.
“Since we have been players ourselves, we think that involving corporate houses will be in the benefit of the game. We are coming up with few more tournaments including the National Inter-college tournaments and junior cricket. This could be a good warm-up for us too,” said Pradhan.
Managing Director Shailendra Khadka said the tournament was about giving a restart to the company activities after a turbulent year. “We were unable to carry out sports activities last year due to earthquake and blockade. This is restart for us,” said Khadka. Kanchanjunga in the past had also organised Inter-college National and Marwari Premier League.
The event will also feature live concert and fun games on the sidelines. Kanchanjunga Director Manoj Baisya expected to get good support from every sector concerned.
