Weeks before the first anniversary of the Magnitude 7.6 earthquake, a fresh aftershock of Magnitude 4.5 rocked Kathmandu on Saturday evening.

Lok Bijay Adhikari, chief of National Seismological Centre (NSC), confirmed that Saturday’s jolt, which was felt at 7:05pm,  was an aftershock of the April 25 earthquake. The epicentre of the aftershock was Bhaisepati, Lalitpur, according to the NSC. At least three persons participating in the Bisket Jatra in Bhaktapur, which began on Saturday, were injured in a stampede following the aftershock. According to the NSC, as many as 445 aftershocks of Magnitude 4 and above have been recorded since the April 25 earthquake. (PR)
