Roshan Magar, 26, was caught from Colina Holiday Inn Resort at Budhanilkantha. A white Toyota car (Ba 2 Cha 3838) had mowed down Raju Khadka, 45, in front of Shangrila Hotel in the wee hours of Wednesday. Khadka had died on the way to hospital. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Somendra Rathor, five persons—Magar; Niraj Shah, 25; Ksitiz Gurung, 22; Monika Magar, 22; and Anju Lama, 23—were going back to their house in Budhanilkantha at around 3am after a New Year party. All of them were inebriated. In his statement, Magar said that he did not see the pedestrian and despite slamming on the brakes, he could not stop his car. All of them then rushed to Colina Holiday Inn and parked the vehicle there. Then they took a taxi to reach their houses.
DSP Rathor said Magar will be charged with road accident death. For other four persons, they will be charged with public offence for not taking the victims to hospital and not informing the police.
Magar had long been involved in theft and burglary while his charges of public offence are being investigated by police in Maharajgunj, Durbarmarg and Lainchaur.
