Rana sisters in semi-finals

Rana twin sisters Mayanka and Mahika entered the women’s singles semi-finals of the fourth Citizen Bank Open Tennis Championships on Monday.

In their respective quarter-final matches, Mayanka defeated Bijisha Shrestha 6-4, 6-1 and Mahika sidelined Anushka Malla 6-1, 6-1. Along with the Rana twins, Ira Raut and Bibhuti Karki also made it through to the last four. 

Raut saw off Ganga Sharma 6-2, 7-5 and Karki eased to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Ritu Gurung. In the men’s singles, Samrakshyan Bhushan Bajracharya ousted his brother Samyak 6-0, 6-1 for a place in the quarter-finals. In other men’s singles matches, Kamal Bhandari hammered Stephan 6-0, 6-1 and Dawa Sonam Sherpa beat Pranav Khanal 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. 

Likewise, Renjan Lama overcame Anil Shahi 6-4, 2-6, 6-0, Shakti Sharma beat Nabin Magar 6-3, 2-6, 7-5, Jitendra Pariyar dispatched Bijay Maharjan 6-1, 6-1, Sakshyam Karki cruised past Aavas Malla 6-4, 6-3 and Kumar Adhikari got the better of Ranjan Shrestha 6-0, 6-1.
