Though the party President and Parliamentary Party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was silent over replacing the government, his aide Bimalendra Nidhi and senior party leader Dr Shekhar Koirala on Sunday openly batted for a new government in upcoming Parliament session.
Speaking at a function organised by the Nepal Trade Union on the occasion of May Day on Sunday, Nidhi said it has been imperative to replace the incumbent government as it has failed to address the problems facing the nation and has been obstacle to political resolutions.
Deuba, who was also present in the programme, remained silent on issues though.
But the other NC leaders were forthcoming in criticism of the UML-led government. “The obstacle should be removed in the upcoming Parliament session,” Nidhi said, calling for implementation of the new constitution in addressing the demands of the Madesh based parties.
Toeing Nidhi’s line, Koirala also came down heavily against the Oli-led government, urging party President Deuba “to shoulder the responsibility to lead the new government.” The government has failed on all fronts, as it could not address grievances of the common people.
“We don’t expect the Oli government can handle these crises,” said Koirala, referring to issues raised by Madeshi and other disgruntled groups.
