Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday said that the government was working to hold the local elections in October-November.
Addressing high-ranking officials at the Nepal Police headquarters, PM Oli instructed officials to make necessary security arrangements for the polls. The PM’s statement comes on the heels of a nine-point agreement between coalition partners CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) that gave the government a new lease of life. PM Oli discussed about the election in a closed session attended by deputy inspector generals, additional inspector generals and the inspector general of police. The PM also inspected the police headquarters, particularly the polygraph unit and the digital forensic lab.
