Continuing with their three-year tie-up, the Kantipur Media Group (KMG) and the Higher Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (Hissan) have joined hands to organise an education fair starting on Thursday to help students find a suitable higher secondary institution for further studies.

The four-day “Kantipur Hissan Edu-Fair 2016” to be held at the Exhibition Hall in Bhrikutimandap targets students who are awaiting their School Leaving Certificate exam results.

The event features around 100 domestic academic institutions. The fair aimed at promoting ‘excellent education within the country’ allows only national schools to participate.

Hissan Chairperson Ramesh Silwal said the fair has no room for the consultancies that promote foreign education. “We want to send a message across that the Nepali academic institutions are competent enough to impart quality education,” Silwal told a press meet organised in the Capital on Monday. The organisers claim that the fair will help students find a higher secondary school of their choice. They have requested students to come along with their parents to the fair so that they can jointly take a right decision.

“Finding a right academic institution and a right course is very important for every student. Counsellors at the fair will help them take a right decision based on their interest,” he claimed. Silwal said that students and parents would be able to compare a number of academic institutions under a single roof, which will save their time and effort.

The fair that will conclude on May 22 aims to attract around 200,000 visitors. Organisers said visitors would be picked from a lucky draw for gift hampers while students would get scholarships on merit basis.

“The Kantipur Publications always envisions an educated society, which is impossible to achieve without quality institutions. The tie-up with Hissan will serve this purpose,” Mahesh Swar, assistant general manager of the publications, told media persons.
