Chaya bags 2 awards at Nepal Int’l Film Fest
The fourth Nepal International Film Festival concluded in the Capital on Sunday. The three-day fest came to an end after the winning entries were honoured at a commemoration.The fourth Nepal International Film Festival concluded in the Capital on Sunday. The three-day fest came to an end after the winning entries were honoured at a commemoration. The closing ceremony saw Hon Mohna Ansari, spokesperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), chair the event and hand out the awards. Among the winners was Chhaya, a Nepali film about child sex abuse. The film bagged two awards, including the Best Feature and Best Director for Manoj Pandit.
Likewise, Indian film, Candles in the Wind, bagged the award for Best Documentary; while Marca Amerman won the best Documenatry Director Award for In the Banks of the Tigris. The Oscar-winning Pakistani feature, A Girl In the River, won the Audience Choice Award. The films were judged by a panel of jury consisting of directors Dal Woolman, Chhiring Ritar Sherpa and Sahanawaj Kakoli.
The fest was organised jointly by UNDP and NHRC.
