The victims are taking shelter on the premises of the Dudhpokhari Higher Secondary School. The District Police Office said they have deployed a team to the affected area to rescue the victims.
Meanwhile, a study conducted by the District Soil Conservation Office in Kanchanpur found that people living in settlements south of the Chure face a risk of land erosion. In Bajhang, a flood in the Bahuligadh stream swept away a bridge connecting Chainpur with remote villages. The flood also swept away three shops near the bridge. Police said around 40 riverside houses are at high risk of flood and landslide. The local disaster response committee has alerted people living near the stream about possible danger.
Three people swept away
KALIKOT: Three people have been swept away by flooded rivers in separate incidents in Kalikot and Tanahun district in the last 24 hours. Police said two women died after being swept away by the Simlagadh stream in Kalikot on Thursday evening. In Tanahun, a teenage girl has gone missing in Seti river since Friday morning. Police said 18-year-old Harimaya BK had got into the river to collect driftwood.
