Naya Shakti hails former leader’s feat
Aug 5, 2016-
Naya Shakti Nepal, a new party composed largely of former Maoist leaders, has congratulated CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on his election as the prime minister.
In a statement issued on Thursday, a day after Dahal was elected by the majority vote in Parliament, the party led by former Maoist ideologue Baburam Bhattarai wished the PM a successful tenure.
But the paper signed by party Spokesman Khim Lal Devkota makes a case for fully proportional representation and directly-elected president as an ideal electoral system for the country. It blamed the parliamentary system for prolonged instability in the country.
The party expressed its hope that Dahal would expedite post-earthquake reconstruction, check black marketeering, resolve Madhes issues and complete the remaining tasks of the peace process.
