Stakeholders agree to improve passenger safety

Chief District Officer Bal Krishna Panthi said on Friday that the objective is to solve the problems marring the transportation sector and to discourage traffic rule violations like overspeeding and overcrowding of vehicles, and operating transport service without route permits, among others. The local transport operators have agreed to make positive changes in their service, Panthi added.
Transport operator Suraj Krishna Baidhya said they have agreed, among others, to add vehicles and not carry heavy loads on passenger vehicles. The local administration is going to take decision about route permits for rural roads after inspecting the condition of the roads in the district.
Transport service in many rural parts of Kavre came to a halt on Friday after the local administration began inspecting the vehicles travelling to the areas.
