The main opposition, CPN-UML, has started a campaign to create pressure on other parties and the government to implement the constitution by holding the elections on time.

The recent UML Central Committee meeting had decided to begin a four-month campaign focusing on the upcoming elections.

The UML has begun a gathering and seminars from Province 1. Senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal inaugurated the gathering in Itahari on Friday.

The main objective of the campaign is to publicise the achievements of the KP Oli-led government at the grassroots level, a leader said.

During the campaign, the party will also tell the people about the NC’s “greed for power”, the Maoist’s “opportunism” and the Madhesi forces’ activities to “weaken national interest”.

UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said the provincial gatherings will be held at Biratnagar of Province 1, Janakpur of Province 2, Kathmandu of Province 3, Pokhara of Province 4, Butwal and Nepalgunj of Province 5, Surkhet of Province 6 and Dhangadhi of Province 7.
