Nov 23, 2016-
CPN-UML supporters in Banke, Baridya and Dang districts on Tuesday took to the streets to protest against government plan to split Province 5 and separate hill districts from the province.
In Nepalgunj, UML supporters staged a demonstration against the plan to make Nawalaparasi to Bardiya Province 5 by taking out hill districts from here.
“We are protesting against the government proposal to split Province 5,” said Ashok Koirala, Banke district chairman of the UML, warning that they will not accept a constitution amendment that splits Province 5. In Bardiya, UML supporters demonstrated at Basgadhi, Bhurigaun, Rajapur and the district headquarters, demanding that all the districts of Province 5 should be kept intact. In Dang also, UML activists protested against the government plan.
Supporters of other political parties also held protests in Rolpa, Pyuthan and Rupandehi districts.
