The new buses will link the metropolis with other sub-metropolis outside the Capital, KMC officials said without naming those sub-metropolis.
The KMC had invested Rs100 million on Sajha a year ago for buying 30 large disabled-friendly buses from India.
The buses were put into operation on four different routes earlier this week. “Our aim is to connect other sub-metropolis with KMC, and provide better transport facilities on long routes,” said Rudra Singh Tamang, chief and executive at the KMC. Sajha itself is planning to bring in 10 new deluxe buses with its own means, said Mahendra Raj Pandey, acting CEO at Sajha Yatayat. “We’ll be operating a total of 20 deluxe buses on long routes,” said Pandey. Sajha has a total of 46 buses on its fleet, of which 38 ply different routes in Kathmandu Valley and the rest run on long routes. (PR)
