Soaltee, NAC join hands

Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu and Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has entered into a commercial agreement for joint promotion in developing mutual business opportunities on tourist generating markets like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore in India and Dubai.
Upaul Majumdar, general manager of Soaltee, and Sugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, signed the agreement here on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Kansakar said NAC has been focusing more on strategic shift which will give emphasis on corporate business travellers and tourists. He said NAC is especially interested in entering into this agreement with Soaltee because they have 12 percent share in Soaltee Hotel Limited, one of the oldest 5 star luxury hotels in Nepal.
The agreement focuses on developing business opportunities for both the organizations including joint marketing promotions. “Right now Kathmandu happens to be the most expensive tourist destination in Asia,” said Kansakar.
“With this mutually beneficial agreement we expect a resultant increase in occupancy in both airlines and hotel rooms which will eventually increase the gross revenue.”
Majumdar said he wants to leverage the InterContinental Hotels Group network by facilitating joint marketing at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Dubai.
“Soaltee is a part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group which has international brands associated with it like Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and we have been trying to leverage our network to try and get business into Nepal and Kathmandu,” he said.
Both the organisations are planning to float packages in India and Dubai markets particularly targeting MICE (Meetings, Incentive, and Conference & Exhibition) packages.
The main objective of these packages is to increase the flow of tourist in volumes in Kathmandu.
