Govt decides to reveal ministers’ property details

The government has decided to reveal property details of all the ministers in the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Cabinet.

The Cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to reveal the property details of the ministers, according to government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Karki. 

Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office Damodar Regmi had said on Saturday that all the ministers except for the 10 recently inducted state ministers had already submitted their property details. The PMO will shortly upload the property details of all the ministers onto its official website, he said.

The Cabinet also decided to register the Election Offense and Punishment Bill at Parliament.

Minister Karki said the meeting also decided to form a committee to probe into the teachers who were forced to abandon their jobs due to the conflict. The committee headed by former chief judge of Appellate Court Govinda Prasad Parajuli includes joint government attorney Rewati Siwakoti and Director of Education Department Ana Prasad Neupane. 

During the meeting, the government has decided to accept a Chinese support of Rs 15.80 billion for the reconstruction of earthquake-damaged structures.    

Among other decisions, the Commerce Department has been authorised to monitor the market and supplies instead of the District Administration Office; Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Dinesh Chandra Pokhrel has been promoted to Additional Inspector General and Joint Secretary at the Agriculture Development Ministry Suraj Pokhrel has been promoted to Secretary. 

The Cabinet also decided to send a team from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation to India for talks on additional air routes to ease traffic congestion at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
