Youths and students, who are opposed to the constitution amendment bill proposing Province 5 division, sent text messages to various lawmakers urging them to withdraw the bill on Thursday.

“Dear lawmakers, be aware that constitution amendment bill is against the national interest and people want to withdraw it,” the SMS text read.

The decision to send text messages to lawmakers was made by a meeting

of the student unions affiliated to the opposition parties, including the CPN-UML aligned, All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), on Wednesday.

ANNFSU Secretary RC Lamichhane said the meeting decided to send SMS to the lawmakers because they had the final say on the bill.

The meeting also announced a protest programme for one week.

The ANNFSU spokesman, Sudip Shara, said as per the decision taken by the meeting, they will stage a “pen and copy” protest at Ratnapark in Capital and other parts of the country on Friday .

 On Saturday and Sunday, they will collect letters, addressed to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, concerning the issue of nationality from various government colleges.

The letters will be submitted to the prime minister on Monday, Shara said.

Likewsie, an academic discussion session has been planned at the Tribhuvan University Central Campus in Kirtipur on Wednesday.
