The workshop features a total of 60 students. Organised by Sumeru Kala Sarobhar, the event was inaugurated by director of TV serial Abiral Bagdacha Indrawoti, Badri Adhikari, who is mentoring the workshop.
The workshop comprises one female and male student along with their teacher from each school in Mahendranagar VDC. Speaking at the event, mentor Adhikari said, “There are more people in our society who like to watch rather than read nowadays. The writer of the drama, Ramesh Bikal, likes to introduce himself most of the time as a playwright rather than a novelist as people recognise him more that way. This shows that theatre is a very effective way to communicate but this art is losing its way in the villages, so we plan to revive it through this programme.”
Speaking about the workshop, chairperson of Sumeru Kala Sarobhar, Subalmani Sapkota, said, “Theatre used to be a part of the culture in villages in the past but, with time, it got lost somewhere, so we are trying to revive it once again with the help of this programme.”
The workshop entails extensive acting and directing courses for students and teachers. The workshop, sponsored by CG group, will also travel to Sunsari’s Jhumka, Dharan, Inaruwa and Dhuhabi.
