Quixote’s Cove— a bookshop that actively engages with the community in order to promote art and literature— organised a second-hand books sale at its premises, on Wednesday, in the Capital. The event had more than 500 books ranging in genres, on sale priced at Rs 50.
The sale that started at 12pm on Wednesday, sold out all the books in an hour’s time, to more than 200 bookworms and bibliophiles.
Speaking to the Post about the book sale, Nischal Neupane of Quixote’s Cove said, “We had lots of old books here in store for a long time now, but not many people knew that they were on sale. So, we decided to organise this event.” Neupane added, “One of the main objectives of our bookshop is to promote reading culture in the society. The overwhelming response we received on the first day of the three-day long sale—which by the way ended today itself—has made us very proud. It’s a sign that readership has increased massively in the last couple of years.”
In Neupane’s words, ‘it was like a whirlwind of readers’ at the book sale. Some readers bought up to 70 books at once.
The sale which was supposed to continue till Dec 23 closed within two hours from opening—as a result of all books being sold out. However, in the following two days, bestselling and new books shall be up for grabs at 10 t0 25 percent discount.
