Mahanagar Yatayat adding 40 new buses

“We are holding talks with bus companies, Tata and Ashok Leyland in India. Once we agree on the prices, we will bring the vehicles into the Valley in a month or two,” said Madhusudhan Adhikari, chairman of Mahanagar. The transportation company has been operating 39 Starbus Ultra of Tata Motors since mid-March on the 27-km Ring Road route.
It has recently announced that 10 of the buses would be operated on a new route inside the Ring Road from Dec 30, including Banasthali, Kalanki, Tripureshwor, Ratnapark, Jamal, Kalopool, and New Bus Park.
Unveiling the new route, the company has also come up with new offer to passengers. “We are giving a special gift hamper to 150 passengers every day based on bus tickets,” said Adhikari.
With the additional buses, the Mahanagar will have 79 buses in its feet. Meanwhile, Sajha Yatayat has been presently operating its 38 big buses in four different routes of the valley. There are 200 designated public vehicle routes in the Valley.
