“Three tiers of elections will be held after amending the constitution. We will implement the constitution after the elections,” said the NC chief, while addressing a mass meeting organised in Gothpani, Kavre, on Saturday. The NC village committee of nine VDCs in Koshipari area jointly organised the mass meeting keeping in view of the upcoming elections.
Deuba lashed out the main opposition CPN-UML for blocking the amendment bill registered by the government. “Parliament is the platform for the discussion of the people’s problems all across the world. The UML’s act of disrupting the House business is against democratic norms and values,” he added.
Deuba, who is also a former prime minister, expressed hope that issues raised by the Madhesi and Janajati communities would be addressed if the amendment bill was passed by Parliament.
Addressing the function, NC leader and Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat said the current political problems would not be resolved just by ushering people out on the streets.
He claimed that issues like foreign policy and relations should not be taken to the streets for a political bargain.
NC central members Badri Pandey, Gobinda Bhattarai, among others, also addressed the meeting.
On the occasion, NC President Deuba granted party membership to new entrants.
