PM inducting minister from party that EC has scrapped?
Jan 19, 2017- Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is all set to induct two more ministers into his Cabinet on Thursday. According to sources at the Prime Ministers’ Secretariat, Samajbadi Janata Party’s Prem Bahadur Singh and Kumar Khadka from Akhanda Nepal Party are likely to take the oath on Thursday.
Singh’s Samajbadi Janata Party, however, was scrapped by the Election Commission in March last year for failing to submit income-expenditure details for three consecutive years. Singh had then moved the Supreme Court, challenging the EC move.
When asked about PM Dahal’s plan to induct Singh, who does not have a political party, into Cabinet, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav refused to comment, saying the case is sub judice.
“The EC cannot make any comment at this point of time,” said Yadav.
