According to the Division Road Office in Jajarkot, it was forced to cancel the tenders to complete the road projects because the Ministry of Finance did not release the budget.
Aashish Thapa Magar, chief of the DRO, said the office had issued two tender invitations to complete the Jajarkot-Panchkatiya-Jumla road, Chheda-Chande-Jumla road and Panchkatiya-Barekot-Jumla road four months ago. He said at least Rs 200 million would be required annually to complete the three roads.
People in Jajarkot have accused the government of not prioritising development projects in Jajarkot and other remote districts in the region.
Amar Singh Rathour, a local man, said the districts like Jajarkot and Dolpa get very little attention from the government because of the region lacks political influence at the centre.
Besides the three roads, bridge projects at places like Bairital, Pasagadh, Simlekhola, Nalsinghgadh and Tantragar are also incomplete for a long time.
