The District Administration Office in Dhading has decided to launch an investigation into the fake earthquake victims case after it received complaints that as many as 5,000 families had received first the instalment of housing reconstruction aid.
Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said that they had received 400 complaints in Dhadingbesi, the district headquarters of Dhading, alone. “I will take action against the fake victims and will not let them get government facilities,” said Dhakal.
A week ago, police had detained 12 fake victims out of 68 against whom complaints had been lodged at Jivanpur VDC. They were later released on general date. Dil Bahadur Amatya, a local of Bichbazaar in the district headquarters, returned Rs50,000 he had collected as the first tranche of the housing aid.
136 houses added to housing aid list
The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has added 136 quake-hit households on the housing aid list in Dhading. Of 15,563 complaints, only 136 families are going to receive the first tranche of the aid. Only 6,000 victims, who received the first instalment, have started rebuilding houses. Of them, 132 people have demanded the second tranche of the aid. The NRA had distributed first tranche of housing aid to 60,142 families Dhading.
