Security for ousted CIAA boss cut down

A Cabinet meeting on January 24, 2016 had decided to provide top security to Karki as there could be serious threats to his life given the nature of his job. However, the government on January 11 this year instructed the ministry to provide security to Karki as per a new set of criteria.
After the Supreme Court verdict, Karki has already left for Canada via India. The subcommittee of the Impeachment Recommendation Committee of Parliament has decided that the impeachment motion tabled in Parliament need not be carried
further in the wake of the court decision.
Bal Krishna Panthi, spokesperson for the Home Ministry, said Karki would be provided security as per a new threat assessment if he returns to Nepal.
The ministry has yet to prepare the new security criteria for former heads of constitutional bodies.
