The students vandalised three vehicles, allegedly, for defying the strike. They also manhandled a transport worker.
Neupane, owner of a truck (Me 1 Cha 3951), is left with a broken leg. He is receiving treatment at Nims National Hospital.
The students also vandalised a mini truck and a passenger bus.
Kul Bahadur Basnet, central secretariat member of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary), said the students had to take to the streets as the administration had failed to pay heed to their concerns.
“They (public buses) don’t let the students travel. And even if they do, vehicle staffers behave rudely with them,” said Basnet. “We had to resort to protest as the administration did not pay attention to our problems.”
