A discussion on journalist Kishore Nepal’s essay collection, Rakshyas ko Geet, took place in Pokhara this weekend. Organised by Random Reader’s Society, the event saw scholar Abhi Subedi give his critique on the book.
“Author Nepal’s essays are brilliant but he still has a lot more potential. His prose is praiseworthy not just in his journalistic pieces but also in fiction and essays,” said Subedi.
Discussing about Nepal’s use of symbolism in his essays, Subedi said, “Nepal has a knack for metaphors: everything from small pebbles to leaves find their own story in Nepal’s essayistic universe.
He further added, “Even though Nepal has already crossed the age of 65, he writes about youth’s psychology and their problem in a very realistic way.”
According to Subedi, Nepal’s essays help people to understand how journalism and essays are interrelated. He said, “All this, Nepal achieves using his trademark lucid prose.”
