Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that nothing can stop the local level elections slated for May 14.Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that nothing can stop the local level elections slated for May 14.
Talking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from the weeklong visit to China on Wednesday, PM Dahal said that his government would move ahead by creating a favourable environment for the local level elections adding that the demands put forth by the Madhesi Morcha would be addressed by the next parliamentary elections.
Dahal said China wants the participation of all political parties of Nepal in the upcoming elections and political stability.
Maintaining that he has been vehemently making efforts towards that end, Dahal said he is confident that Madhes-centric parties will participate in it. “Provincial delimitation is the only outstanding issue regarding the constitution amendment,” Dahal said, while assuring that the amendment would be started immediately and any remaining issues would be finalised before the federal elections.
Thanking Chinese President Xi Jinping, the government and people of China for extending warm hospitality and cordiality, Dahal claimed the visit was a success in terms of further consolidating the Nepal-China ties and achieving support and cooperation for the country’s broader development.
The PM said he used the opportunity at the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan Province of China to put forth views and concerns of the least developed and landlocked small countries regarding globalisation and free trade as well as their expectations. PM Dahal addressed the forum on Saturday and met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday.
“This visit has laid the foundation for promoting more cooperation and collaboration on infrastructure development, tourism and energy, among others,” Dahal said, referring to an agreement signed on further expanding cooperation with the Tibet Autonomous Region which shares borders with Nepal. “The basis has also been prepared for the bodies working at the local levels on both sides for ore coordination and collaboration,” he added.
PM Dahal on Tuesday observed the ancient Potala Palace in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. Dahal also met Qi Zinh, chairman of Tibet Council, according to PM Dahal’s private secretariat.
