The two-day fest—organised by the Embassy of India and BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation—was conducted by the multi-faceted Indian theatre director, author and edcucationist Feisal Alkazi.
The first day of the fest, which was held at Moksh in Jhamsikhel, saw a workshop for both adults and children with Alkazi as the mentor, along with a few other artists from the Ruchika Theatre Group. The workshop was attended by a total of 200 participants.
The second day of the fest had Alkazi and the theatre group stage a play—A Quiet Desire—at the Army Officers’ Club in the Capital, where Jitendra Narayan Dev, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation was the chief guest. The play, which was directed by Alkazi, explored the complex relationship between Tagore and his muse Kadambari Devi (Tagore’s sister-in-law), who descended into depression, before taking her own life. The play had nine other supporting artists, who worked to showcase the complex dynamics of the Tagore family.
