Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukia Amano held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi to discuss a wide range of issues including prospects of cooperation.

Both sides reviewed the cooperation between the IAEA and Nepal since the latter joined the agency in 2008. The meetings also discussed potential future cooperation in the areas of health, agriculture, non-destructive testing to verify integrity of key infrastructure and cultural heritage sites, research, human resource development and capacity building, equipment and technology transfer and nuclear safety, according to the Foreign Ministry.
